Government of Uganda CV format
Public Service Commission and ministry adverts: how to present qualifications, employment record and referees, and what else adverts commonly ask you to attach.

Government jobs in Uganda, whether advertised by the Public Service Commission, a ministry, an agency or a district service commission, are usually shortlisted strictly against the minimum requirements in the advert: specific qualifications, years of experience and sometimes registration with a professional body. Your CV’s job is to make it quick to confirm you meet each one.
A structure panels find easy to check
- 1A title line, “Curriculum Vitae”, then your full name exactly as it appears on your academic documents and national ID.
- 2Contact details: phone, email and postal or physical address.
- 3Personal profile: two or three sentences on your field and experience. Personal details such as date of birth or nationality are common on Ugandan government CVs; include them only if the advert or form asks.
- 4Academic qualifications: highest first, with the institution, award and year. Include UACE and UCE if the advert lists them or you have no degree.
- 5Employment record: most recent first, with employer, title and exact dates.
- 6Other skills and training: computer skills, professional courses and registrations (for example with a professional council).
- 7Referees: commonly three, including at least one who has supervised you, with phone numbers and emails.
Make the minimum requirements easy to see
If the advert asks for “a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and at least 3 years’ relevant experience”, the panel should be able to find both within seconds. Use the same qualification name as your transcript, and make sure your employment dates add up to the experience required.
Before
Worked in procurement at the ministry for some years.
After
Procurement Officer, Ministry of Health · 07/2019 – 06/2023 (4 years) · Prepared bid documents for about 30 tenders a year under the PPDA framework.
Where government jobs are advertised
Public service posts are advertised by the Public Service Commission, and many applications are made online through ORAMIS. District service commissions also advertise local government posts. Always apply through the official channel named in the advert.

Documents and details to get right
- Names must match across your CV, certificates and ID. If they differ, the advert may ask for a deed poll or explanation.
- Certified copies, if requested, should be clear and complete. Don’t attach documents the advert doesn’t ask for.
- Respect the deadline and the submission method in the advert (online, by hand or by email).
- Keep your phone on and reachable after applying: shortlisted candidates are often contacted by phone.
